Medical procedures of any size can be anxiety-inducing, which is why at SEAH we want to make blood work as seamless and painless as possible for both your pet and you.
Our team offers a spectrum of blood work procedures that are carried out with a wide range of the very best laboratory equipment. We are capable of performing most full blood count tests and biochemistry analyses. These tests are done on site and patients usually receive their results in 10-20 minutes. We are also equipped to perform cortisol tests to check for hypo- and hypercortisolaemia, otherwise known as Addison’s disease and Cushing’s disease; thyroid tests in order to check for hypothyroidism in dogs and hyperthyroidism in cats; pancreatic lipase tests to check for canine or feline pancreatitis, meaning inflammation of the pancreas; and finally, Parvovirus and FIV/FeLV testing.
You and your pet can prepare for these tests in a couple ways. First, we always recommend you educate yourself on what the procedure is, what it is testing for and why we think it is necessary to run this test. We are always more than happy to answer your questions throughout the process and to point you towards helpful resources. Secondly, you can ensure that your pet arrives at our facility with an empty stomach. We know how hard it is to resist giving treats to that adorable little face or to turn your back on your pet’s hungry whine the morning-of. However, these measures will assure that you get the best results from your pet’s blood tests.
